Did you know two of the six winners of the 2007 California Clean Tech Open were from Los Angeles. Los Angeles is home to innovative labs such NanoSystems Institute, Center for Embedded Networked Sensing, Water Technology Center, USC Energy Institute, and Caltech Global Environment

Also, the achievements of Los Angeles entrepreneurs and researchers are strengthened by the progressive public policies implemented in Los Angeles, including the nation's most ambitious green building plan, the world's most pioneering green port initiative, and an innovative ramp-up of renewable energy by the nation's largest municipal utility.

Some of the many things invented in LA include: the Space Shuttle, the hula hoop, Myspace, the global positioning system, the fortune cookie, skateboards, and the Mars Rover.
